Former player and coach of Kotoko, Malik Jabir, is a true servant of the club, Communications Director of the club, Kwaku Ahenkorah, has said.

Several reports have indicated that Kotoko are planning to appoint Mr Jabir as a technical director following some bad results in recent times, including a two-one loss to bottom-placed New Edubiase.

But speaking to Class Sports’ Hussein Hassan, Mr Ahenkorah said Mr Jabir was already playing significant roles in the club, and his influence cannot be underestimated because he is an avid Kotoko man.

“He’s been with the technical team all this while. He brought Osei Agyemang to Kotoko and has even been doing all sorts of chores for Kotoko, technical chores and all that. People do not know who Malik Jabir is; Malik is Mr Kotoko. He has coached both Opoku Nti and George Kennedy. He was the assistant coach of the victorious Kumasi Asante Kotoko team in 1993, so he knows Kumasi Asante Kotoko inside out,” he stated.

“I don’t want to talk about Malik being confirmed for the role, but I think everyone associated with the club knows his standing within the club. He is someone interim head coach Michael Osei respects a lot,” Mr Ahenkorah added.

Former captain of the side, Joe Hendricks, also expressed delight at the prospect of Mr Jabir taking up the role of technical director of the side he had captained for several years.

“Malik, as a technical director, I think he will help Michael Osei to change a lot of things at the club. Everyone in Ghana football knows and respects him, and I am personally very happy for him,” he said.
