Jane goes finding goals against Japan

Jane Ayieyam is hoping to be at her best when Ghana comes up against Japan FIFA U-17 Women's World Cup 2012 in Azerbaijan on Friday.

Both teams are dreaming of a last-four place ahead of their quarter-final clash as the competition gradually winds down.

For the Black Maidens, reaching the quarters is the furthest they have come in three attempts at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and Ayieyam, who has scored four goals in three matches is full of confidence.

Ayieyam is sure the Black Maidens will carry on from their 2-0 win against China PR in the final Group D match that ensured progress after they followed up an opening 3-2 defeat to Germany with a 5-0 win over Uruguay.

“We are improving and we’re going to make sure we beat Japan. Anyone who comes our way we are going to beat them, all the way until the final,” she said.

The in-form attacker had a great match against China, grabbing both goals but she stresses that her speed has helped her shone in the competition.

“I get my goals because of my speed, that’s why I’m able to get the better of defenders,” Ayieyam added.

The winner of the Ghana v Japan game will meet France in the semi-finals.
