Jeffrey Schlupp excited to be making Ghana return

English-based defender Jeffrey Schlupp is excited to be rejoining the Black Stars having been dropped for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

The 21-year-old has been handed a recall to the Ghana team for this month’s opening 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Uganda and Togo.

Schlupp was dropped from the final Black Stars squad for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.

He is one of the major beneficiaries of the selection shake-up made by coach Kwesi Appiah following Ghana’s disappointing exit from the 2014 World Cup.

His form with English Premier League club Leicester City at the start of the season made him an obvious choice for a return to the Black Stars.

The ex Manchester United trialist posted a picture of his packed luggage and his passport on Twitter to show his excitement at his imminent return to the Ghana national team.

“Looking forward to meeting up with the Ghanaian squad again,” Schlupp tagged in his Twitter post.

Schlupp has only made two appearances for the Black Stars with his last being the 1-0 defeat to the Netherlands in the pre-2014 World Cup friendly played in Rotterdam.

He is expected to arrive in Ghana on Monday night to as the Black Stars commence training for Saturday’s 2015 AFCON qualifier opener against Uganda in Kumasi.
