Ghana and Crystal Palace utility winger Jeffrey has been ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up a career-threatening injury in their clash with Manchester City.
Jeffrey Schlupp was an early first-half sub against Manchester City on Sunday in their 3-1 defeat and Roy Hodgson today provided an update on the Eagles man.
“We have been a little bit unlucky in this latter period, it started with Mamadou, then we lost James and now we’ve lost Jeff, which is, of course, three big blows for us,” Hodgson told the club’s website.
“He won’t play again this season. The ankle injury is such that it will take the three or so weeks we have left (to heal).
“Fortunately, we don’t have quite so many other injuries to deal with but we are getting down to our bare bones, but I guess we aren’t alone in that respect, late in the season teams do get depleted.
The injury is likely to throw Schlupp’s inclusion in the Ghana squad for the 2019 AFCON into huge doubt.
