Germany star Jerome Agyenim Boateng says his decision to play for German was borne out of the fact that he has played for the European country’s youth sides since he was a kid.

Boateng, who plays for Bayern Munich, revealed that he loves Ghana despite opting to play for the European country when the Ghana FA contacted him.

His brother Kevin-Prince plays for their father’s country after he switched nationality from Germany to play for the Black Stars.

The Ghana FA was looking to switch nationality for Jerome to enable him follow in the footsteps of his brother to play for the Black Stars.

But when the Ghana FA contacted him with the support of his father, Jerome told them that he is only keen on playing for Germany where he grew up.

“For me, it was from Day 1 Germany. It is where I grew up, played for the youth teams. I do feel my African side, but I’ve always wanted to play for Germany,” Jerome said.

“Ghana did contact me, but I told them and my dad that I was sure I wanted to play for Germany,” he added.

In June, Boateng is likely to be part of Germany’s national team at the World Cup in Brazil, where for the second time he will play a first-round game against Ghana and his brother, Kevin-Prince.

It has been said in Germany that the children of immigrants have two hearts beating in their chests.

The two professional soccer players were born in Germany to a German mother and an African father.

One chose to play for Germany, one for his father’s homeland.

Germany will also face Portugal and the United States in the first round of the World.
