Osman Bukari provided a key assist, but it wasn’t enough to prevent Austin FC from falling 2-1 to LA Galaxy in a closely contested Major League Soccer match at Dignity Health Sports Park.
LA Galaxy took the lead in the 31st minute through Gabriel Pec, who slotted home a left-footed strike from Riqui Puig's setup. Bukari entered the game at halftime, replacing Brendan Hines-Ike, and immediately made an impact.
Just ten minutes into the second half, the Ghanaian winger delivered a pinpoint cross that found Sebastián Driussi, who leveled the score for Austin FC with a powerful shot in the 55th minute.
However, the Galaxy regained control in the 76th minute when Dejan Joveljic scored the decisive goal, assisted once again by the impressive Puig. Austin’s hopes of a comeback were dashed in injury time when Guilherme Biro received a red card, leaving his side a man down.
Austin FC will look to bounce back when they face the Colorado Rapids on October 20th.
