The Black Stars were able to prove themselves formidable as they hand South Africa a 2-0 defeat and Sao Tome a narrow 1-0 win in the Afcon qualifiers.
Their narrow win against Sao Tome took the Black Stars to the top of the table in Group C's Afcon qualifiers with six points, having South Africa trail them behind with 3 points.
During this international break, Black Stars head coach James Kwesi Appiah handed four players their international debut over the two matches played.
Gideon Mensah - who currently plays for Belgian club Zulte Waregem - Iddrisu Baba - who plays as a midfielder for La Liga side RCD Mallorca - was handed their first start for the Black Stars in their 2-0 win against South Africa, where Mohammed Kudus was subbed on in the second half.
Christopher Antwi-Adjei, who currently plays for German club SC Paderborn as a midfielder, was handed his own debut against Sao Tome and Principe after being subbed in the second half of the match.
Home-based players like Mohammed Fatawu - plays for Hearts of Oak - Mumuni Shafiu, who plays for Ashanti Gold, and Torric Gibril of TP Mazembe were all called up to the Black Stars team for the first time ever.
Ghana were able to seal a 2-0 victory against South Africa thanks to Thomas Partey's 35th minute goal and Kudus 80th minute strike after coming on as a substitute. While a goal from the Penalty spot all but secured their win against Sao Tome on Monday, which was scored by the team's captain Jordan Ayew who is active in the Premier League .
Speaking about their two wins during the international break, ayew said: “We have six points and no team in our group did that in this international week so that proved that we did something good.
"It’s just the beginning. I am very happy and I hope that we continue like that.
“I want to congratulate the boys for these two games. The camp has been brilliant.
"The support has been perfect. Every plan that we had, we executed it very well.”
