Ghana striker Jordan Ayew has been named the African Player of the Month in the English Premier League for January, the player’s publicist has confirmed.
The Aston Villa player beat competition from Chelsea’s John Obi Mikel (Nigeria) and West Ham’s midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate from Senegal.
Award organisers New African Soccer is yet to announce the winner on its website but a tweet by Ayew’s publicist Fiifi Tackie let the cat out of the bag.
