Jordan has faith in Dede and Rahim

Jordan Ayew, the youngest son of football legend Abedi Pele, has massive confidence in elder brothers Andre and Rahim making Ghana proud at the World Cup.

Their father may be widely acknowledged as the country’s greatest ever footballer but he never played on the biggest stage of them all. But Pele may be making up for that with the inclusion of his first two sons in the Black Stars’ World Cup party.

Jordan has told 90 MINUTES that should they get playing time, both of his brothers are ready to help the national team’s push for glory in South Africa.

“I am very confident that if they get the chance they will do very well especially Andre. He has impressed people in Ghana and has made people keep quiet,” he said.

“He keeps getting better and I know he is going to be one of the stars of this World Cup,” Jordan Ayew told this paper when we caught up with him at Nania FC’s training park in Legon.

Widely touted to be the better footballer of all the Ayews, Jordan says he has decided to play for Ghana. “Dede has set the standard very high by leading Ghana to win the U-20 World Cup and the quest to reach those same heights is the mission, the reason why I decided to play for Ghana,” said the man already named Ghana’s new U-20 captain ahead of their African Youth Championship qualifier against Namibia on July 25.

“But it won’t be a crime if we don’t win because it is not a competition between me and my brother. It's step by step and we have to qualify first,” a very confident Jordan told 90 MINUTES.
