Jordan not a happy man despite first Villa goal

Jordan Ayew scored his first goal for English Premier League side Aston Villa on Saturday when they entertained Swansea City.

The Ghanaian forward was however not a happy man at full-time as his side lost the game from a winner scored by elder brother Andre Ayew, who plays for Swansea City.

Jordan appreciated his first goal for the club and the performances of his teammates but rued his side’s defeat against Swansea City.

The Aston Villa forward said of his goal after the game:

“Not a winning goal but it was good for we the players and the fans to score the first goal. It doesn’t happen often.

“We always play good football and today I think we did very well but in the end we didn’t win. And that’s the problem, we didn’t win and we have to start winning.”

The Ghana international played against his brother Andre Ayew for the second time. The first was in the French Ligue 1 when Jordan scored a brace for his Lorient side with Andre scoring one for his Marseille side as Lorient won by five goals to three.

Asked about playing against his brother Andre, Jordan said:

“That’s the second time, but I lost and like I said the most important thing is that we win no matter who scores. I don’t care if I didn’t score, and we won, I would be the happiest person in the world. But today, I can’t be happy today.”

On whether he was on talking terms with his brother after denying his Villa side anything from the game on Saturday, Jordan replied:

“It’s family, so there’s no problem.”

Andre Ayew talked of his delight for his brother getting his first goal at the club he transferred to during the summer transfer window.

Andre said of Jordan Ayew’s goal:

“He scored a great goal after I missed an opportunity. And I’m quite happy for him for the effort he put on the field today. He had a great game but what is important is Swansea wins, and we won this game and I’m very happy.”
