Jordan opens Ligue 1 goal account

Ghana forward Jordan Ayew registered his first goal of the 2014/15 French Ligue 1 season for Lorient in the 4-0 thrashing of Guingamp on Saturday evening.

The 22-year-old, who is expected to join the Ghana squad for the 2015 AFCON qualifier against Uganda and Togo, added the third goal in the 83rd minute at the Stade Yves Allainmat – Le Moustoir as Lorient recorded their second win of the new season.

After a pulsating 0-0 stalemate in the opening 45 minutes, Lorient returned from the break to pound their visitors with Benjamin Jeannot opening the scoring before Valentin Lavigne cushioned the lead with ten minutes left.

Jordan, who had picked a booking in the 34th minute of the game ensured he claimed his first Ligue 1 goal in the Lorient colours by exhibiting maturity in front of goal to score in the third before being replaced in the 86th minute, three minutes after he had scored.

He joined Lorient from giants Olympique Marseille.
