Joseph Agbeko beats Ekow Wilson to retain WBO African Bantamweight title

The Bantamweight African Champion, Joseph Agbeko, knocked out Ekow Wilson in the 10th round of a 12 round bout staged in the Volta Regional Capital, Ho to retain his title.

The former two-time former Bantamweight World Champion, who was determined to outclass his contender was offensive throughout the fight, throwing jabs at his opponent.

Joseph Agbeko who received a louder cheers and applause was spectacular in the ring, though Ekow Wilson also managed to land some punches on his face.

The bout failed to progress beyond the 10th round when Ekow threw in the towel, giving Agbeko 26 knock outs in 40 bouts with 35 wins.

Joseph Agbeko aka KingKong who was elated with his performance assured of working hard to emerge victorious at the world stage once again.

“With this win I am sure I will make Ghana and Africa proud once again at the world stage”, he said.

A much anticipated fight of the night was between Anama Dotse aka ‘Polopala’ and Ugandan challenger Sani Yidana Kublie.

The non title bout ended 2mins 14secs into the second round, while Togo’s John Koudeha also known as ‘Africa Mike Tyson’ won a fight against Ghana’s Kwesi Tutu aka ‘Dark Destroyer’.

The judges’ scorecards on the bout which traveled all 8 rounds read 74-78, 74-80 and 72-80 for Koudeha.

There were 10 undercards at the event organized by Aborigines Promotions to help promote boxing discipline in the Volta Region.
