Joseph Baffo claims Ghana approach

Joseph Baffo Joseph Baffo

Joseph Baffo has revealed he has been approached by the Ghana Football Association to switch allegiance to the West African giants.

The versatile defender, who turns 23 next month, has declared his interest to play for his country of birth but featured prominently for Sweden at the 2015 UEFA European Under-21 Championship as the Scandinavian country won the ultimate.

Baffo, who joined Eintracht Braunschweig from Swedish Allsvenkan side Halmstad BK, has revealed he has been contacted by the Ghana FA over a possible switch of nationality but he insisted he will not rush to commit his future to the Black Stars.

“Yes, officials from Ghana have contacted me. I have the opportunity to play for their national team, too. But I will not rush. The national team I choose must be right for me. The interest must be mutual,” Baffo told Expressen.

“My agent Håkan and I talked a little bit about Ghana.

"He advised me to really think through the decision, for which I take. He gave me good advice. It has to be right. Ghana is also a good national team,” he added.

The Accra-born has featured in nine games in all competitions for Braunschweig since the start of the season.
