Ghana forward Joseph Paintsil continued his impressive form, netting his eighth goal of the season in LA Galaxy's 3-2 victory over Portland Timbers in Major League Soccer on Saturday.
The 26-year-old registered two assists in the game to set himself up for the MVP award for the game.
The match saw Gabriel Pec open the scoring for LA Galaxy in the 38th minute, with the goal coming from an assist by Paintsil.
The former Genk winger was instrumental again in the 48th minute, providing another assist for former Barcelona midfielder Riqui Puig to double the lead.
Portland Timbers fought back with a goal from Jonathan Rodriguez in the 52nd minute, reducing the deficit. However, Paintsil extended LA Galaxy's lead in the 58th minute with his eighth goal of the season.
Despite a second-half goal from Santiago Moreno in the 73rd minute, Portland Timbers could not find an equalizer. LA Galaxy held on for the slim win, securing another three points.
With this victory, LA Galaxy remains at the top of the MLS table, boasting 49 points after match week 26.
