Ferencvaros striker Joseph Paintsil is on the verge of earning a late call-up to the Black Stars for the upcoming friendly encounter against 2018 World Cup bound Iceland.

Paintsil has been a key figure for Ferencvaros in the Hungarian OTP Bank Liga since joining at the start of the season from Ghanaian outfit Tema Youth.

The 20-year-old netted 10 goals and registered 4 assists in 24 appearances as the Green Eagles finished 2nd in the campaign.

According to media reports, Paintsil is set to be drafted into the Black Stars team after Jiangsu Suning striker Richmond Boakye-Yiadom withdrew from the squad after suffering injury at his club.

The reports indicate that, Black Stars Management Committee Chairman, Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer, has contacted the player to communicate the news.

Meanwhile, Deportivo Alaves midfielder Mubarak Wakaso has also excluded himself from the double header friendlies against Japan and Iceland.
