Ghanaian-born British boxer, Joshua Buatsi improved to 10-0 (8 KO) with a third-round stoppage of Liam Conroy, winning the vacant British light heavyweight title today in London.

Buatsi put Conroy (16-4-1, 8 KO) down twice in the third round, and at the second knockdown, the referee made the wise decision to wave it off at 1:53. Conroy gave every bit of the effort, but he was overmatched and outclassed by Buatsi’s skills and power.

The loss ends a nine-fight win streak for Conroy, which dated back to 2015.

Buatsi, 26, is seen as one of Matchroom’s top rising stars, and promoter Eddie Hearn confirmed there’s a chance we’ll see him next on June 1, part of the Joshua-Miller card at Madison Square Garden.

“We’d love him to box at Madison Square Garden. Who wouldn’t want to box there?” Hearn said, noting that ultimately it will be up to Buatsi and his team.

“I’m so excited about his future,” Hearn added. “If you look at that division at the elite level, they are excellent fighters. I believe he has the ability to go and beat them all.”

“It sounds fantastic,” Buatsi said of possibly fighting in New York. “If the team gives me the green light, we’re good to go.”
