Manager of Cesar Juarez, Sean Gibbons, has intimated that they are ready to storm Ghana to face Isaac Dogboe for the interim WBO world super bantamweight title on January 6th at the Bukom Boxing Arena.

Juarez was scheduled to face WBO 122 pound belt-holder Jessie Magdaleno on November 11th in Fresno, California. But that bout was scrapped as the defending champion pulled out of that fight claiming a training injury.

Juarez, the top-rated contender in the WBO, was very sceptical of the whole scenario and with that will be travelling to Accra, Ghana to face Isaac Dogboe for the interim WBO title.

“He just didn’t want to wait, he didn’t believe in Magdaleno, he doesn’t believe he’s coming back right away,” explained, Gibbons said. “He’s tired of waiting, waiting and waiting. So he’ll fight in Africa. He’s a warrior.”

The winner of Juarez-Dogboe will be in line to face Magdaleno, whenever he returns to the ring.

“1000 percent, they aren’t the mandatory, they are the interim belt-holder. So Magdaleno, when he returns, has to fight whoever wins,” explained Gibbons.

Juarez (20-5, 15 KOs) lost an absolute war with Nonito Donaire in December 2015 and then a few months later suffered an upset decision loss to Giovanni Delgado.

But he’s bounced back with three wins in a row, including an eight round knockout of undefeated Albert Pagara.

Dogboe (17-0, 11 KOs) has fought all over the place. He made his pro debut in Berne in August 2013. Then fought his second pro fight in Belfast in 2014. His next five fights were held in the United States.

But since then he’s more or less only fought in Ghana, with a single fight taking place last December in Auckland.

Dogboe has only fought a single time in 2017, with a sixth round stoppage of Javier Nicolas Chacon on July 22. Juarez was last in the ring back in April, when he stopped Eugene Lagos in Mexico.
