Ever since the international football giant Juventus Academy commenced operations in Ghana as Juventus Academy Ghana, there have been numerous cases of individuals being defrauded by fraudulent entities impersonating Juventus Academy Ghana.

On June 27th, Ghanaian police apprehended Alfred Agorgovi, who was posing as a representative of Juventus Academy Ghana. He was caught in the act of attempting to defraud an unsuspecting victim of GHS 37,000.

According to police reports, Alfred Agorgovi approached a man claiming affiliation with Juventus Academy Ghana, offering false promises of player recruitment and training opportunities in exchange for money. Fortunately, the intended victim grew suspicious and alerted the authorities. Police swiftly responded and arrested Agorgovi during the attempted transaction at a secluded location in Accra. The vigilance of the citizen who reported this suspicious activity is commendable.

The suspect is currently in police custody at the Airport Police Station and is expected to face charges of fraud and impersonation. Authorities are investigating whether there may be additional victims and encourage anyone with information to come forward. In an interview with Bernard Kafui Sokpe, Brand Director of Juventus Academy Ghana, he mentioned that the academy is collaborating closely with the police cyber unit to crack down on such fraudsters, with more arrests anticipated soon.

This arrest serves as a reminder to always verify the credentials of individuals claiming to represent organizations, especially in transactions involving finances. Juventus Academy Ghana urges the public to exercise caution and to contact them directly through official channels for inquiries related to their programs. This incident underscores the importance of due diligence when dealing with offers that seem too good to be true, particularly in sports recruitment, an area notorious for scams targeting young athletes and their families.
