Ghana midfielder Michael Essien has been targeted by Italian side Juventus as they seek to sign him in the summer when his loan deal with Real Madrid expires.
According to reports in the Italian media, Juventus will make an offer to Chelsea to sign the Ghanaian player when he returns to the English club.
The midfield powerhouse joined the Spanish side on loan in August last year because of the lack of playing time at the Blues.
With just a few months before the season ends in Europe speculation over Essien’s future is mounting with the Ghanaian being linked with a return to Chelsea.
According to TuttoMercato, Chelsea are not keen on keeping Essien who will cost 5 million euros per season if he returns.
As Chelsea are keen on reducing their wage bill and injecting youth into their squad Essien is among the players they are keen on selling.
The report claims Juventus will be interested in buying the player if Chelsea decide to release him.
Essien moved to the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer transfer window of last year, teaming up with former Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
The 30-year-old has made 26 appearances for Real Madrid this term, scoring one goal.
