KK Sarpong in hot waters over transfer cash

Resigned Kumasi Asante Kotoko board chairman Dr KK Sarpong and his management, particularly Kwame Baah-Nuako, will have to cough up alleged missing money from the transfer of certain players.

They are Daniel Nii Adjei, Yaw Frimpong, Ben Acheampong, Samad Oppong, and Nathaniel Asamoah among others.

Goal Ghana understands the club is in the process of officially pinning Dr Sarpong and his men down to account for the money before leaving office since investigations have revealed the amount was under declared when the players were sold.

The Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi is on a warpath with Dr Sarpong and his associates after the former disclosed to the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the owner of Kotoko, that something fishy went on during the transfers.

For instance, for the Ben Acheampong deal, the player was alleged to have been sold for $250,000, but officials reportedly recorded just $150,000, Nii Adjei and Yaw Frimpong also had $100,000 removed from their fee as well as Nathaniel Asamoah and Awal Mohammed. Samad Oppong was also sold for $40,000 but it was reported that the player went as a free agent.

Dr Sarpong has officially resigned his post, but Kotoko are yet to respond to his resignation.
