Greater Accra II Breeze into the Final
Greater Accra II breezed their way into Saturday?s finals of the ongoing KN Owusu Memorial Invitational Tournament with a 7-1 demolishing of Eastern Region to win Pool A. The game was dominated by the Accra lads from push-off to the final whistle that signified the end of proceedings. Greater Accra II registered the second hat-trick of the tournament through David Chablah who found net the during the 21st, 40th and 55th minutes. Alex Amanquanor scored in the 57th minute to add to the hat-trick he scored in the first match. Other scorers were Benjamin Baiden (14th), Jacob Sowah (51st) and Joseph Ampoe (65th). Senyor Sedenkor pulled a goal back for the Easterners in 43rd minute.
In the second match of the day, Greater Accra I faced a stiff opposition from Central but managed to run away with a flattering 4-0 score-line. The game was a close contest as the Central team intimidated their younger opponents in the physical department of the game. The swift Accra boys however managed to draw rings around their opponents despite their physical presence and banged in the goals to seal the victory.
The tournament enters the 3rd day on Friday with 2 matches. At 2pm, Ashanti take on Eastern, while Greater Accra I will do battle with Brong Ahafo to determine who plays in the finals on Saturday. A win for either side is a guaranteed place in the final, while a draw will be enough for the Accra lads to win Pool B to take their place in the grand final. Below are the Rankings in the Pools.
