Kadiri Mohammed has been voted the best player of Ashanti Gold in the 2014-15 Ghana Premier League season by fans of the club.

The defender beat off competition from central defensive partner and captain Lawrence Lartey, midfielder Eric Opoku, Bernard Morrison, Tijani Joshua and Emmanuel Osei Baffuor to lift the coveted accolade.

Mohammed was a regular figure in coach Bashir Hayford’s side that ended a 19-year trophy drought by winning the 2014-15 league title, and particularly earned high marks for a splendid performance against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on matchday 16.

The Obuasi-based side won 15 matches, drew seven, lost eight and scored 35 goals during the season.

The Miners conceded 26 times and wrapped up the title race with a match to spare after opening a six-point gap at the top of the table ahead of the final matchday.

In other categories, Joshua Tijani, having missed the Player of the Season awards, was adjudged the Most Disciplined Player while Eric Opoku won the Most Dedicated Player Award.

Emmanuel Osei Baffuor was named the Most Promising Player of the Season, with a special awards going for club chief executive officer Cudjoe Fianoo, coach Bashir Hayford, as well as a host of others.

AshGold will represent Ghana in the 2016 Caf Champions League.
