Ghana winger Kamaldeen Sulemana has been ruled out of Southampton's season opener in the Premier League against Newcastle United.

The 22-year-old has picked up an injury and will miss the trip to St. James’ Park on August 17, 2024.

The pacy winger sustained the injury during Southampton’s 2-0 loss to Oxford United.

Southampton manager Martin Russell addressed Sulemana’s situation, stating, “Kamaldeen will be out for three weeks.”

This news comes ahead of Southampton’s preseason game against Lazio on Wednesday, August 9.

The Saints are scheduled to face Spanish La Liga side Getafe on Saturday, August 10, following the Lazio match, before taking on Newcastle to open the new season.

Southampton is preparing for their return to the English Premier League after being relegated following the 2022-2023 season.

The Ghana international made 25 appearances for Southampton last season, making three assists.
