Three players of Karela UnitedIsaac Danso,Benjamin Boateng and Philip Quarshie, and match officials were brutally beaten by fans of Tarkwa United during the Division One League game involving the two sides in Tarkwa.

Karela United, the away side won the game by a lone goal.

Reports are that Tarkwa United restored parity in what appeared a perfect goal but the referee disallowed the goal inviting the home fans to vent their spleen on the officials and the away team.

Reports are that the Karela United players were hit with stones at and ice blocks at the after the game resulting in the injury of three of their players.

Isaac Nana Danso, one of the injured players of Karela FC gave a testimony after the game.

'What happened today at Tarkwa wasn't easy at all. Before, during and after de match, we played with fear. Three of our players got injured. Fans of Tarkwa United threw stones and ice blocks on us,” he said.

“Our bench was dismantled. For the referee and the assistant referees, I'm sorry for them, they were beaten mercilessly.”

“They even broke the glasses of our dressing room. Meanwhile about 15 police men were around,” he added.

The barbaric incident is about the sixth incident of violence that has been recorded in the Division One League this season.

Asokwa Deportivo were meted the same treatment in Dunkwah while Elmina Sharks coach Kobina Emissah was nearly lynched at the Sekondi Gyandu Parkwith Gold Stars suffering a 10-match home ban for meting out similar treatment to their opponents.
