Kevin Mensah scores for Viborg in Denmark

Danish-born Ghanaian Kevin Mensah scored one of the consolation goals for Viborg in their 3-2 home loss to giants Midtjylland in the Danish Superligaen on Friday evening.

The 22-year-old gave Viborg hope of at least getting a point from the game by scoring late – 88th minute, but they could not draw level before the end of the tie against a ten-man Midtjylland side at the Energi Viborg Arena.

The visitors went ahead just before the half-hour mark through Marco Larsen but Aleksandr Stankov levelled things up before Jeppe Curth hit a double within 21 minutes to put the Wolves 3-1 ahead.

But with two minutes left to draw down the curtains, the moment arrived for Mensah who powered home a decent drive from the edge of the area to reduce the deficit for them.

The goal marks his fifth of the season for Viborg who are fifth on the table after 15 games and are still pushing for a Europa League spot.

Kevin’s younger brother Jeff Mensah was unused by Viborg manager Ove Christensen.

Ghanaian defender Kolja Afriyie lasted the entire 90 minutes of the game for Midtjylland.
