Kevin, Muntari named among WC worst XI

Ghana midfield duo of Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sulley Muntari have been named among the worst players of the 2014 World Cup by ESPN.

The American sports broadcaster published a list of players it thinks underperformed by the end of the tournament in Brazil on Sunday.

Boateng was not impressive throughout the competition. Perhaps the decision by the Ghana FA to send Boateng and Muntari home for indiscipline might have contributed to their low ranking.

However the inclusion of Muntari in the list will come as a huge surprise to many Ghanaians given the performances he put up in the Black Stars two matches at the tournament.

He excelled in the match against the United States and was the mastermind of breaking up the fluent German midfield resulting in Ghana’s outstanding performance in the 2-2 draw with the eventual tournament winners.

Other famous players like Spain goalkeeper Casillas, Mario Balotelli of Italy, Suarez and Pepe were included in the list prepared by journalist Craig Burley.
