German-born Ghanaian international Kevin-Prince Boateng has no intention of playing for the Black Stars again. This is according to new Ghana coach C.K Akonnor who says he had a chat with the former AC Milan star during his tour of Europe recently.
Defending his first Black Stars call-up to newsman in Accra on Tuesday, Akonnor said he did a broad consultation with players, past and present and tried to gauge their preparedness to continue playing for the country.
Akonnor claims he is happy and encouraged by the general willingness of most of the players to continue serving the Black Stars in the years ahead.
Asked if players such as Kwadwo Asamoah and Kevin Boateng feature in his plans, he hinted that Asamoah needs to first get fit before being considered while Boateng has no desire to continue playing for Ghana.
"I spoke to Kwadwo Asamoah and he is willing to play. He has been unlucky with injuries and needs to be fully firm first before we can consider him. As for Kevin, I spoke to him but I got the sense that he doesn't want to play for us again."
Boateng, who switched allegiance from Germany to play for Ghana in the lead up to the 2010 World Cup has not played for Ghana since 2014 when he was sacked from the team's camp in Brazil for insubordination towards the then coach, Kwasi Appiah.
