Kingson Calls on God for Bright Future

After going through what soccer pundits say his most knotty times in his football career in England with relegated Barclays Premiership side, Birmingham City, where he enjoyed only three appearances with the Blues in the 2007/8 soccer season, Black Stars safest pair of hands, Richard Kingson, has remained resolute and thanked the Lord for guiding him to taste the elite division of English football.

Kingson who has since terminated his two year contract with Birmingham City after serving only a season, was at church over the weekend to give thanks to the Almighty for seeing him through the 2007/8 Premiership season as he fellowshipped with Reverend Abraham Lamptey and members of the Believers House of Worship at Nungua Brigade, where he thanked the Lord with GH 50.000.

According to the former Galatasaray goalie, he hopes the Almighty Lord will through the thanksgiving; grant him a club of his choice where he will enjoy first team football in order to maintain his form as the Black Stars prepares to secure a ticket to the 2010 African/World Cup in Angola and South Africa respectively.

‘It’s my hope and prayer that the good Lord grants me a club of his choice where I can enjoy enough playing time to maintain my form’.

Asked whether he will love to continue his career in England since he admits playing in England has been his long and cherished dream, he said, ‘so far as I’m assured of a first team place why not, that will even afford me the opportunity to prove to all English football lovers that I’m not a ‘waste of space’ goalkeeper like I was described by Birmingham City co-owner, David Sullivan.

Kingson’s decision to terminate his contract with the Blues was as a result of the unfortunate statements made by David Sullivan after the club suffered relegation to the Coca Cola Championship.

He also thanked the Lord for helping him reach an agreement with his employers and a compensation package reached to be given to him.

Kingson, who missed Ghana’s international friendly against Australia in Sydney last Friday, has been included in the Stars 23-man squad that will be preparing in Kumasi for their opening qualifying games of the 2010 African and World scheduled for the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on June 1st 2008.
