Manchester United are on the verge of finalizing a new and improved contract for midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, according to reports.
The 19-year-old has established himself as a key player in Erik ten Hag’s midfield and recently earned a spot in England’s starting lineup for Euro 2024.
Mainoo’s current contract with the club runs until 2027, with an option for an additional year.
However, the Manchester Evening News reports that discussions for a new deal have progressed quickly since they began in March, just seven months ago. Only minor details remain before the official announcement of his contract renewal.
The report also states that Mainoo is set to receive a well-deserved pay increase, as Manchester United plans to build their midfield around him for the next decade and beyond.
Mainoo made his mark in the first team at the start of the year and has continued to impress.
Notably, he played a crucial role in Manchester United's triumph over rivals Manchester City in the 2024 FA Cup final, scoring the winning goal in a 2-1 victory and earning the player of the match award.
