Chairman of the GFA Normalisation Committee Dr Kofi Amoah is behind the disqualification of Wilfred Osei Palmer from the FA presidential race, Chairman of the Western Region Football Association Kojo Yankah has alleged.

Palmer, who launched his campaign on Wednesday, was disqualified by the FA Vetting Committee in a report released on Thursday.

A statement by the committee said Palmer, who is the bankroller of Tema Youth, was disqualified on ethical grounds.

But the tough-talking Yankah is "not surprised" about the decision, saying it stems from a standing personal dispute between the Palmer and Dr Amoah.

"Im not surprised about Palmer's disqualification from the GFA presidency election race because there was a time he failed to pay 10% of Joseph Paintsil’s transfer fee to the GFA as required by the laws governing the management of football in the country," he told light FM.

"I strongly believe this disqualification is a personal decision by Dr Kofi Amoah."

Palmer was among the favourites to win the 25th October contest.

His disqualification comes just 48 hours after launching his "policy document" to kick start his campaign for the presidency.

He has already announced he is going to appeal the Vetting Committee ruling that has cleared the other seven contestants to stand the election.
