Newly crowned Ghana premier league top scorer, Kofi Owusu has expressed his delight in becoming the ‘king of goals’ in the just ended First Capital Plus Bank Premier League adding that winning the goal king was not his target prior to the season

The Berekum Chelsea hit-man ended the season with 19 goals, 1 better than Nathnaiel Asamoah who is now plying his trade in the Moroccan league with Raja Cassablanca.

Kofi Owusu opened his season goal scoring account in his side’s second game of the season after coming from the bench to draw the Berekum based club level and they went on to win the game 4-2 against Hearts of Oak at the Essipong sports stadium due to a home match ban imposed on them.

During the course of the season Kofi Owusu was trailing Nathaniel Asamoah with 3 goals but the Medeama attacker in four games to end the season joined Raja Casablanca and the former Okwawu striker took full advantage of his absence by bagging in four goals in two games to win the 2014/15 top scorer award with 19 goals.

After achieving that feat, Kofi Owusu has expressed his delight in winning the top scorer award adding that was not is target prior to the start of the season.

“I’m very happy to win the top scorer award at the end of the season. It was a difficult season for me but I managed to come on top, for me ahead of the season winning the goal king was not my target, my target was to score in every game for my team,” Kofi Owusu exclusively told Allsports.com.gh.

The 25 year old attacker added: “It got to a point Nathaniel Asamoah was leading the goal king chart but I have confident in me that I will beat him to the top scorer award because the time he was leading, the season was not over and now I’m the hero at the end of the season”.

Berekum Chelsea at the end of the First Capital Plus Bank Premier League finished 3rd on the league log with 44 points.
