Asante Kotoko failed to make the most of home count as they drew goalless with regional rivals Ashanti Gold in their outstanding Premier League game played at Baba Yara stadium on Wednesday

Kotoko, who were seeking to get their title aspirations back on track, put up an improved performance yet could not overcome Ashgold to claim their first win of the campaign.

David Duncan made four changes to the side that drew 2-2 with Medeama last Sunday.

With Dauda Mohammed starting at the expense of Bennett Ofori while goalkeeper Ernest Sowah was handed an official debut. Skipper Amos Frimpong and Ohene Brenya also started the game.

Whereas Coach Bashiru Hayford kept experience goalkeeper Fatau Dauda on the bench.

The first half was highly contested. Ashgold had the best of starts but Kotoko settled quickly and dominated play for most parts. The porcupine warriors were denied the opening goal in the 18th minute when Mohammed Dauda struck the crossbar. Teams missed couple of decent openings afterwards.

Both sides were determined to win all spoils in the second half but it was Kotoko who were unlucky again as they struck the post courtesy Ahmed Adams.

The result leaves Kotoko, who were highly tipped by pundits to win the title with two points and occupy the 13th position after Match Day 3. Their next game is a tough one against Berekum Chelsea at Golden city park.

Ashgold are seen 7th on the log and will make a trip to Sekondi to take on Hasaacas on Match Day 4.
