Kumasi, March 12, GNA - Many Kotoko fans were on Saturday disappointed when the Club's Board of Directors failed to appoint a substantive Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to run affairs of the club. After about a seven-hour meeting by the Board in Kumasi, none of the main contestants for the post, Jerry Asare, Sylvester Asare Owusu, George Amoako and Alhaji Salifu Abubakari alias 'Nje', was given the nod.
The GNA Sports gathered that instead, Mr Jarvis Peprah who was the Club's Interim Management Team (IMT) member in-charge of Public Relations and Administration, was appointed as the sole administrator and acting CEO.
The Board also dissolved the IMT with Alhaji Abubakari, Kwabena Kesse and Kwame Despite, who constituted the IMT called back to the Board to enhance the Club's development.
Speaking to the GNA Sports in Kumasi on Sunday, Mr Kwame Boafo, the Board's Secretary said the dissolution of the IMT was in agreement with Kotoko's rules and regulations since the team had officially ended its term of office.
He said that even though the Board could not appoint a substantive CEO, it had put in place measures to appoint one soon and therefore called on the supporters to remain focused to the Club's cause. Mr Boafo said the main contestants for the CEO were found not to be up to the task since they could not meet the criteria for the job, adding that they were in consultation to come out with a credible CEO. He said Mr Peprah's appointment followed his long dedicated service to the Club, adding that, "We hope he will deliver as expected of him".
