The official mouthpiece of Premier League Champions Asante Kotoko, the Kotoko Express, currently owes the Graphic Communications Group an estimated GH¢130,000 ($37,143.16) in printing costs, Footy-Ghana.com understands.
Graphic Communications normally prints the Kotoko Express newspaper, in addition to its own newspapers at an agreed cost.
According to our sources, the situation has come about as a result of what is described by club insiders as a deep disinterest in the affairs of the Kotoko Express newspaper from the powers that be within the club.
Footy-ghana.com can also confirm that the Kotoko Express, which was contributing a minimum of GH¢5000 ($1429) a month to the club’s coffers, thanks largely to the efforts of the then Executive Board Chairman, Dr. Kofi Kodua Sarpong, now owes its staff four months’ salary.
Footy-ghana.com gathers that the general consensus within the club is that following the departure of Dr Sarpong, Board member Ambassador Kabral Blay Amihere, who has oversight responsibility for Asante Kotoko’s media and communications operations, is being accused by fans of the club of paying little or no attention to the Kotoko Express, resulting in the paper’s current financial troubles.
