Kotoko Host African Sports

Kumasi Asante Kotoko would play Ivorian side Africa Sport on Wednesday at the Kumasi stadium in an international friendly as part of Kotoko?s preparations for the next round of the Africa Champions Club competition.

A contingent of 25 players and officials of Africa Sport arrives in Accra today at 3.30pm via Air Ivoire and according to the organisers, Phoenix Consult Limited; the team would head straight to Kumasi for the Wednesday match.

The team is also using the game as part of their preparation for the Champions League where they play Togolese side A.S. Douanes in the next round.

Africa Sports could also play as guests of Hearts of Oak if talks between Hearts and Phoenix end well. They could leave the country by the weekend should the Hearts deal materialise, but should that fail, they should return to base on Thursday.

Meanwhile a director of Phoenix has expressed profound appreciation to officials of Kumasi Asante Kotoko for swiftly going to the aid of Togolese team Etoile Filante who were involved in a fatal motor accident at the outskirts of Osino in the Eastern Region.

Mr. Edward Yigah praised officials of the league champions, as well as supporters? leaders for quickly responding to the evacuation needs of the accident victims, four of who remain in serious conditions but are said to be responding to treatment.

The four, including the coach of the team who suffered cuts on the forehead and fractured bones are still on admission at the Okomfo Anokye Teaching Hospital in Kumasi while the rest of the team left Kumasi in the evening of yesterday en route to Togo.

Etoiles were scheduled to play Kotoko last Sunday but suffered the accident on Saturday while they were on their way to honour the match.
