Kotoko,Okwahu; Oly, RTU Matches Rained Off

Nkawkaw: The match between Okwawu United and visiting Kumasi Asante Kotoko at Nkawkaw was rained off after 34 minutes of play. Okwawu were at the time leading by a lone goal, scored by inside left Nii Ayi Welbeck in the 13th minute from a free kick just outside the goal area of Kotoko. Accra-based class one referee Alex Kotey, who stopped the match following a heavy down pour, told reporters the match would be replayed at the same venue tomorrow, Monday, June two. Also in Accra, the match between Accra Great Olympics and Real Tamale United was postponed to tomorrow, because of the week end's heavy down pour which rendered the pitch soggy. But at Yeji, the Yeji Stars/Accra Hearts of Oak match ended abruptly at the end of the first half when the home fans rushed on Kumasi-based referee K. Amaniampong and assaulted him as soon as he whistled for the end of the session. Hearts were leading 1-0 at the time from a 40th-minute goal. The match between GHAPOHA Readers and Sekondi Hasaacas at Tema was put off because GHAPOHA are in Abidjan, Cote d'ivoire for a West African Football Union match against Issia Wasi f/c.
