Kotoko Pip Dwarfs

Kumasi Asante Kotoko beat Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs 1-0 in their mid-week GT Premier League match at Baba Yara Sports stadium in Kumasi on Wednesday.

Daniel Bomfa scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute when he delivered a 30-meter drive that beat goalkeeper Sam Yeboah in posts for Dwarfs.

Kotoko who started the game on a fast note should have increased the score but poor marksmanship by their attackers robbed them of the numerous chances that came their way.

Dwarfs in the 22nd minute mounted a counter-attack but the strong defence of Kotoko revolved around Aziz Ansah, Godfred Yeboah, Kenneth Ababio and Issa Mohammed stood firm and refused to bulge. The visitors nearly found the equalizer in the 34th minute but Ekow Ghansah who capitalised on a defensive blunder shot off target. On resumption of the second half, Dwarfs made series of incursions into the Kotoko goal area and Ghansah in the 51st minute wasted another good chance to bring his die on level term.

Dwarfs brought on Insaidoo Amusa and Ekow Aikins for Moustapha Douglas and Samuel Aryeeteh in the 53rd and 58th minutes respectively. Sensing danger, Kotoko also substituted Kennedy Asamoah for George Yamoah in the 61st minute and went ahead again in the 71st to bring on Kweku Essien for Daniel Bomfah.

The substitutions however failed to yield any results as both teams were unable to translate the chances that came their way.
