Kotoko To Fire German Coach?

Kotoko to hold crisis meeting tomorrow

Kumasi, Jan. 9, GNA - Kumasi Asante Kotoko football club will be holding a crisis meeting tomorrow basically to discuss and review the team's performance in the two leg matches of the final of the CAF Confederation Cup.

It looks like what will run high on the agenda of the management of the club is the fate of the German coach of the club, Hans- Dieter Schmidt.

Even though officials of Kotoko refused to talk to the media after the match, GNA Sports can confirm that the Kotoko hierarchy is highly displeased with the performance of the coach.

Information indicates that the coach who had been criticised for his substitutions could be given the boot in the next few days.

The Management and supporters of the club have criticised and linked the failure of the club to win the two leg match with his late substitutions in Accra and Kumasi which they claim led to their defeat.

It would be recalled that whilst Heart made their substitutions at the tail end of the two matches in Accra and Kumasi and that the Kotoko coach should have done the same instead of deciding to make early substitutions that eventually led to a drawn game in Accra and victory for Hearts in Kumasi.

In the Accra match, the Kotoko coach substituted Nana Arhin Dua for Mobola Sanji, Edmund Owusu Ansah for Yusif Cibsah and Kweku Essein for Michael Osie while in the Kumasi match the coach again substituted Charles Taylor for Edmund Owusu Ansah, Frank Osei for Nana Arhin Duah and Dan Yeboah for Michael Osei.
