Kotoko are "ungrateful" - Edubiase boss

Abdul Salam Yakubu says New Edubiase have cut ties with champions Asante Kotoko. Officials of the Bekwai-based side claim Kotoko are bent on ensuring they are relegated from the Ghanaian top-tier.

Club president Abdul Salam Yakubu launched a stinging potshot at the current management team accusing them of working against their survival in the elite division.

Kotoko won their third successive League title by beating New Edubiase 2-1 in Bekwai – a result which put Edubiase deep in the relegation struggle.

Edubiase chief Abdul Salam Yakubu claims officials of the Kumasi-based side club are not trustworthy and will not do any business with them henceforth.

“We (New Edubiase) and Kotoko will never do business again. We have no plans of selling any of our players to them ever again,” Yakubu fumed on Happy FM.

“They (Kotoko) claim they struggle to purchase a player from us and so are praying and working hard for us to be relegated.

“But they forgot that we sold Abeiku Ainooson to them. This current Kotoko management team is a sham.

“What hurt most is that we’re all in the Ashanti region and so I’m surprised that they will make all attempts to see us go down.

“We shall all go down for them to be the only team in the Ashanti region. I know what I’m talking about. They want us to be relegated.

“Henceforth, we have nothing to do with Kotoko again. And we’re dead serious.” Edubiase must at least pick up a point against Hearts of Oak on Wednesday to survive another term.
