Kotoko beat Medeama to go seven points clear

Kotoko responded positively to their CAF Champions League exit with an important 1-0 win at Medeama in an outstanding First Capital Premier League on Thursday.

Defender Abeiku Ainooson scored the match winner in the first half to give their travelling supporters some respite in the wake of their shock elimination from Africa’s elite inter-club competition.

The game took on new importance after they were beaten 1-0 by Liberian side Barrack Young Controllers, which sparked massive row in the club.

But coach Mas Ud Dramani’s men responded positively to the setback to pick another important win on the road, leaving Medeama without a win against the giants at their own backyard since they gained qualification to the top-flight.

The Porcupine Warriors have thus opened a seven-point lead at the summit of the table.

For Medeama, the result will be disappointing for their teeming fans after they completed an impressive 4-1 aggregrate win over Panthers FC to advance to the next phase of the CAF Confederation Cup last Sunday.
