Asante Kotoko coach Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum has heaped praise on goalkeeper Mohammed Camara following his impressive performance in the team's 1-0 victory over Karela United in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday, September 8, 2024.
Camara, who stepped in for the absent first-choice goalkeeper Frederick Asare, pulled off several crucial saves to help the Porcupine Warriors secure their first three points of the season.
In a post-match interview, Coach Ogum expressed his confidence in Camara's abilities, stating that he never doubted the goalkeeper's potential to perform in Asare's absence.
"I said there was not going to be a problem (in the absence of Asare) because we have [Camara]. If Asare comes, we all know he's a national team goalkeeper, the three of them will keep working, on the Match Day, the one we think will suit the game, we just put him there," Coach Ogum said.
The coach further urged Camara to maintain his confidence, continue working hard, and stay focused throughout the season.
"As a team, I think it's good for us we have good goalkeepers so that when the last line of defence is beaten he will be there to save the team, and you saw he did that a lot within the game. I want to urge him to keep his confidence, keep working hard, and stay focused throughout the season," he added.
With the international break now over, Coach Ogum will have to decide between Frederick Asare and Mohammed Camara for the goalkeeper position in Asante Kotoko's upcoming match against Nsoatreman FC.
