One week after being hospitalised at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), Kumasi; following the tragic accident involving the team bus at Nkawkaw in the Eastern Region, Coach Steven Polack has been declared fit to go home by doctors who have been taking care of him.

The coach was on the team bus with 18 players and technical team members when it crashed into a stationary KIA truck on the Nkawkaw stretch of the Accra-Kumasi Highway on Wednesday July 12, 2017 more than three hours after the Inter Allies-Kotoko league match at the El Wak Stadium.

The horrifying incident claimed the life of the team’s Deputy Equipment Officer, Thomas Obeng Asare, whose one-week rites were held on Wednesday at Esereso. Coach Polack’s release from the hospital comes three days after midfielder, Ollennu Ashitey was also ‘set free’ by KATH.

The Kotoko coach left KATH on Thursday evening. He was driven home by Accra and Premier League Board Representative, Thomas Boakye Agyeman. Polack, who underwent a successful knee surgery 24hours after the accident, received numerous visits. The last of the heart-warming and dignifying visits came from the Chief of Staff of Manhyia Palace, Kofi Badu.

Meanwhile, the bus driver, Nana Berchie who has also been on admission at KATH is responding to treatment. The other players who were all treated and discharged hours after the accident are also faring well in their recuperation.
