Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko have completed the signing of forward William Opoku Mensah.
The former Karela United attacker joins the Porcupine Warriors as a free agent after returning to Ghana following a failed stint in the United States with Swope Park Rangers.
Opoku Mensah joins the record Ghana Premier League champions on a year deal with an option to extend the following season.
The 24-year old is fondly remembered on the local scene for netting a hat-trick against Kotoko's fierce rivals Hearts of Oak in Anyinase in the 2017 Ghana Premier League.
His arrival will be a major boost for Kotoko coach Maxwell Konadu, who is bent on strengthening his side's attacking machinery.
"We know him already so he is not a player we are going to try. Per the options available to us, I think he is the best that is why we picked him ahead of the others," Konadu told Kotoko Express.
Opoku Mensah expressed delight in joining the Reds and believes this is an opportunity for him to etch his name in the club's history.
"I grew up hearing the name of former Kotoko greats like Opoku Nti, Dogo Moro, Baba Yara and Nana Arhin Duah,' he said.
"It has been my desire for many years to join this club and wear the famous Red jersey. I promise to give 100% and ask that the fans support me."
