Kotoko’s management has unreservedly apologised for the conduct of some supporters at the Accra Sports Stadium during Wednesday’s United Nations Association of Ghana Peace Match, between Kotoko and Hearts which ended 2-2.

Some fans at the game, in an apparent show of displeasure against Referee Joseph Lamptey’s decision to deny Kotoko an obvious first half penalty, threw sachet water onto the pitch. Appeals through the public address system and the quick deployment of military and police personnel into the handful of unruly fans restored sanity.

General Manager, Opoku Nti in applauding the supporters for their turn up at the stadium to support the team, however expressed Kotoko’s disapproval of the throwing of water bags onto the pitch.

He said, the club couldn’t accept such a behaviour as the rules and regulations of the game frown on that. “That was completely unacceptable. It is not something we condone. We totally condemn that attitude. Management profusely apologises to the organisers and the sporting public for that behaviour” said Opoku Nti.

“We had an excellent game. We may not have been happy with certain decisions but no one had any right to express his or her disagreement in that way. We condemn that attitude and once again apologises to all who were at the match. The management of the club is very sorry for the behaviour of the fans" said the General Manager.
