Kotoko dismiss RTU

KUMASI Asante Kotoko brought back the smiles of their teeming supporters when they registered an emphatic 2-0 victory over visiting Real Tamale United in their exciting ABC Golden Lager premier league match played at the Kumasi Sadium yesterday.

The match which attracted more spectators than any other since the beginning of the season, produced fireworks.Kotoko's threat at goal and counter attack by RTU five minutes into the game set the stage for the exciting confrontation.Kotoko played aggressively and managed to hit the back of the net of RTU in the 29th minute.

Austin Akplehe, Kotoko's left winger, received a pass and sent a curling cross which was beautifully headed into the net by Prince Adu Poku.

Akplehe, playing a great game, nearly made it two but his 30-metre shot hit the woodwork in the 40th minute.RTU had chances to score but poor shooting upfront denied them any goals. Nine minutes from the end however, Kotoko increased their tally to two through a penalty converted by defender Emmanuel Ampiah alias Togo.

Akplehe had a pass on the far left and took on the RTU defence but before he could cause any havoc, RTU defender Kenneth Wepare brought him down in the box for the penalty.

? A 65th minute beautiful dummy by Baba Adams who capped it with a terrific shot earned Swedru All Blacks the maximum three points in a local derby with Cape Coast Mysterious Dwarfs at the Swedru park yesterday.
