Asante Kotoko goalkeeper Osei Kwame has undergone surgery to repair a ligament tear on his right foot.

The ex-Inter Allies shot stopper spent almost seven hours at the Komfo Anokye Teaching hospital to correct the cruciate ligament tear he suffered.

The recurring injury resurfaced shortly after joining the Porcupine Warriors, limiting him to the bench on match days.

However, with the topflight suspended due to COVID-19, the club took the opportunity to have the problem solved before the return of the league.

Hollard Insurance Company paid GHc15,000 to cover the cost of the surgery which doctors say would bring back life into the goalkeeper’s right leg to enable him to continue playing football.

Kwame is expected to be out for at least three months.
