The Management of Kumasi Asante Kotoko has signed a 900 million cedis sponsorship deal with Scancom Limited (operators of Spacefon), a GSM cellular service provider. The deal, which covers a period of five years allows for upward renegotiation from time to time.
Mr Edwin Addo of Spacefon told the GNA that the agreement between Spacefon and Kotoko would ensure closer collaboration between the cellular service provider and football administrators in the country.
He said apart from the marketing and public relations that the two organisations would enjoy, they would also explore further value added packages such as information hotlines, short messaging hotlines and match updates.
" Both managements see this association as part of a natural process due, in part, to the fact that Spacefon is the leader in the cellular industry with the largest subscriber base while Kotoko is one of the greatest teams in Ghana and Africa and boast of the largest supporters base."
Chief Executive of Asante Kotoko, Herbert Mensah, advised people administering football to take a cue from their efforts and aspire to do better. "Spacefon's sponsorship no doubt is a direct recognition of hard work on the part of management, technical and playing staff of Kumasi Asante Kotoko and we pray that, the men who are running the game will take a cue from our efforts and aspire to do even better." The Managing Director of Spacefon, Ahmed Farroukh, assured Kotoko of their commitment and urged other co-operate bodies to emulate them.
