Asante Kotoko are subjecting head coach C.K Akonnor to unnecessary pressure according to Kurt Okraku who worked with the former Hearts of Oak trainer at Dreams FC.
Akonnor has been tasked to win the Champions league for Kotoko in the shortest possible time following his three year contract but the Ghana FA Cup chief believes the club’s decision to go to Africa as debut competition for the former Ashanti Gold coach is too much a task and will only put him under unnecessary pressure to deliver.
Akonnor has overseen just two friendly games in charge of the Porcupine Warriors but his competitive competition is now a baptism of fire in Africa.
“For me I think they are rushing. They should have taken time to make sure everything is well with the team before participating in Africa” Kurt Okraku told Kessben FM.
“If I was to be George Amoako I wouldn’t have taken this decision. I think they are rushing. They are putting unnecessary pressure on C K Akonnor.
“Currently football is not going on in the country and so how would they prepare and be in the best of shape for Africa ” He quizzed.
Meanwhile October 30th is the deadline for all countries to submit their representatives for the 2018/2019 CAF Champions League and the Confederation Cup and Kotoko are set to finalize their list of players for the first stages of the Confederation Cup.
