Kumasi Asante Kotoko S/C shrugged off the stiff challenge from Aduana Stars to record a 2-1 victory over the visitors in a Zylofon Cash Premier League (ZCPL) match day 15 top-liner at the Baba Yara Stadium, Kumasi, on Sunday.

The results leave the Porcupine Warriors in the fifth position on 24 points, three points adrift of league leaders, Medeama F/C, and a development seen by the club’s followers as very encouraging given the recent transfer of some of its key players.

Burkinabe import, Sogne Yakuba, voted ‘Man of the Match’, shot the Porcupine Warriors into the lead in the ninth minute, scoring from a free-kick to inspire the homers to victory.

He went ahead to torment the Aduana defence with his daring moves, and at a point in time, Coach Yussif Abubakar’s charges had to resort to rough play in order to contain the striker.

Aduana rallied strongly fifteen minutes to end the first half in search of the equalizer.

Taking control of the midfield, the likes of Elvis Opoku and Bright Adjei fired from all angles, but goalie Felix Annan was to the rescue of the Porcupine Warriors.

Kotoko’s Yakuba hit a brace two minutes into the second half to put the game beyond the lads from Dormaa.

Bright Adjei would reduce the goal deficit for the visitors with a 65th-minute strike, as his shot took a deflection of Kotoko’s Wahab Adams to enter the net.
