The Porcupine Warriors top striker will not be playing in the new Ghana Premier League season after the club removed his name from registration
Asante Kotoko have abrogated the contract of Ivorian striker Ahmed Toure following ‘gross insubordination and non-commitment’, an official of the Kumasi-based team said on Thursday.
The Ivorian-Burkinabe did not report to the club for pre-season activities after his loan move to Lebanese side Nejmeh SC fell through, according to reports.
“Ahmed Toure’s contract at Kotoko has been terminated. He has displayed gross insubordination and non-commitment towards the club”, Deputy Operations Manager,
Ali Maradona told GazzettaGhana.
“His contract has been terminated and due to that we didn’t register him for the coming season so officially, he is not part of us.”
Toure, 28, scored 11 goals for Kotoko the last season.
The Ghana Football Association has confirmed February 20 as kickoff date for the new season, after months of delay following legal tussles involving several clubs.
